Praba Pilar’s incisive critical theory and projects such as NO!!!BOT are searing critiques of this “Cult of the Techno-Logic” and its violent, globalized impact on marginalized communities across borders, race, and class…. she exposes the tech industry’s complicity in various forms of corporal exploitation through raw, experimental, and demented repurposing of technological apparatus.

LARK ALDER, in QUEER TIME, PRODUCTIVITY, AND FAILURE IN INTERACTIVE MEDIA (Interactive Storytelling for the Screen, eds. Sylke Meyer, Gustavo Aldana. routledge 2021.)

Praba Pilar expone los vínculos (y tensiones) entre el humano y el humano posbiológico: el ciborg, el autómata y el robot; entre el macromundo (la tecnología globalizada) y el nanobit, la encarnación y la informática.

Praba Pilar is a diasporic Colombian artist disrupting the contemporary ‘Cult of the Techno-Logic’ through performances, digital and electronic installations, participatory workshops, and experimental public talks. She has a PhD in Performance Studies, Co-Directs the Bioarts Ethical Advisory Komission, Co-Directs the Hindsight Institute, and is very active in the World Congress on New Reproductive Technology Arts.

In the messianic space emerging at the intersection of biological sciences and economic enterprises, the Reverend of Nano Bio Info [Praba Pilar] amplifies and distorts the spectacular claims of modern prophets, exposing pervasive illusions about the potential of technology to bring about salvation.

Eben Kirksey, et. al. The Multi-Species Salon, 2014.Duke University PresS

Pilar dares to dismantle through embodied resistance the master narratives that promote uncritical embrace of the digital revolution while ignoring its unequal flow of information, labor and consumerism.
